artist statement.

After graduating in Fine Art from Saint Martin Art School in 2001, AL and AL built their own blue screen special effects studio in London and began making computer generated films which document their life together inside the blue void.
AL and Al’s habitation within the blue screen studio has produced a curious mix of document and fantasy.
AL and AL have substituted their life for a simulation, programming and producing computer generated worlds which they explore with their own performing bodies.
AL and AL’s live work/studio has come to embody a form of escapism which at the same time shadows and documents their life together. AL and AL now have shared memories of places which have never existed times together which never took place. AL and AL’s films can be seen as a real document and a fictious simulation at the same time.
From this formal blue void, AL and AL weave resonant content into their films and performances, probing the mysterious destiny of technology and investigating the political mediation, psycho sexual and mystical consequences of their seduction.
Discarding with the familiar special effects film making process, AL and AL become all of the crew, programming their own worlds, performing in the blue screen, editing, producing the sound, enabling the to obtain a unique level of authorship over the work.
AL and AL have attracted an international audience through gallery exhibitions, site specific installations, television broadcasts and film festival screenings, they have received numerous awards for their work from Arts Council England Channel 4 television, Film London, ACAVA, Acme and most recently receiving the Centre of Attention Arts Prize.
