artist statement.

Hsiu-Ling Chi on the work of Hyun-Gyoung Kim:
The perfectly formed objects by Kim Hyun Gyoung are part of a fairytale landscape. She combines different elements that at first glance do not seem to belong together, and by doing so, creates novel figures and draws attention to everyday objects. Her objects contain a certain “lightness of being,” but occasionally speak of pain as well. Kim’s communication with her environment is a timid process. Those who resonate with her figures tap a source of joy.
